Gov Willie Obiano has said that at least, 3 km distance of the road would be asphalted on the Ogbunka -Ajalli-Ufuma-ogbunka-Nawfija road in the Orumba council area of the state before the next rains.

This was made known during a recent inspection visit by the governor to the project site.

The 21.21 km road network was awarded late last year and the contractor was consequently mobilized by the administration.

The governor observed during the visit that earthwork has been achieved on a 5km stretch.

Gov Obiano noted that the road will be completed with the full compliments of a standard road, also observed that the completion of the road will spell brighter prospects for agricultural revolution in the state as it cuts across five major food basket communities of the Orumba area.

He explained that the visit was to see what the contractors have done with the money he released last year and  expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work already done on the road.

He commended people of the community for their cooperation with the contractor and urged them to sustain the support to enable the contractor deliver the Project on schedule.

The Commissioner for Road Infrastructure, Furniture and Maintenance, Chief Law Chinwuba noted that due to the nature of the road, the State government had hired a competent firm to execute it.

In his remarks, a former Chairman of Orumba South Council Area, Bar John Onyeakpa noted that the road creates a major by-pass to the very busy Umunze junction especially during festivities and said by constructing the road, Gov Obiano has done something that will remain indelible in the minds of Ndi Orumba.

For a stakeholder from Nawfija, Dr Maduka Nwankwo, the construction of the road will make it easier for farmers in the Orumba North and South communities to evacuate their farm produce and there is no better way for the people to repay the governor than to continue to support him.
