​Obiano inaugurates multi-million Naira New PPSSC Office in Onitsha

The Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano has inaugurated the newly completed Onitsha Education Zonal office complex of the Post Primary School Service Commission, (PPSSC).

The two-storey building was built by the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, in the zone.

Gov Obiano who was joyously received by the teachers and students with a tumultuous applause on arrival said the State government will intensify its support towards education supervision as a way to ensure that the quality of education offered in schools across the state conforms with acceptable international standard. 

He commended the PTA in Onitsha Zone for their efforts in complementing  what his administration is doing in transforming the State education sector and urged other zones to emulate them. 

The governor promised that the State government will provide power generating set and borehole facility for the office and undertake reroofing of the four existing buildings as well as landscape and fence the premises. 

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha noted that no government can effectively develop the education sector without support from stakeholders, and acknowledged that the support of the PTA was because they have seen the commitment of the governor towards entrenching value-based education in the state. 

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the PPSSC, Lady Joy Ulasi and the Onitsha Zonal Director of Education, Mrs Ugo Eze while seeking the state government’s assistance towards addressing some key challenges facing the office, assured that the teachers are committed to driving its vision for the education sector. 

For their part, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Francis Udeoba and the Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha North Council Area, Mr Patrick Aghamba noted that the standard of education was very high in the state because Governor Obiano understands its place in building a virile society, thanking all who supported the project.
