He noted that his administration was living out the true meaning of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) slogan of “be your brother’s keeper”, saying that that informed his efforts at carrying every segment of the society along in the governance process.

Earlier in a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor emphasized that Ndigbo wants a united Nigeria but it must be predicated on equity and justice, adding that there is great need for restructuring to quell agitations for secession which he noted is fuelled by years of marginalization and corruption.

He called on all to be conscious that they will one-day be gone and so endeavour to use their God-given lives to touch lives.

Responding, Dr Akabueze thanked all who came to commiserate with them during the period of grief and prayed God to repay them for whatever they put in supporting them.
