Cultists' commander nabbed with gun in Anambra

A high profile cultist has been arrested by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) of the Anambra State Police Command in Nawfia community, Anambra state. The suspect, said to be the cultist’s executioner, was arrested with one locally made pistol, as well as three live cartridges, one sword and one machete.

He confessed to being the cultists’ executioner (leader) in the area, but said his tenure ended in 2014 when he took up international drug trafficking to Dubai and other countries.

Reacting on the items recovered from him, the suspect said, “They were part of the handover note when I took over as the executioner. But since my successor refused to pay me N20,000 to collect the items, I kept them in my house and embarked on the International drug trafficking trip because I paid N20,000 to my predecessor to collect the items that included the gun.”. He however noted that members of his gang were now on the run as they have been sacked by the SPACS led by Mr Christopher Bassey.

Similarly, another cultist Makuachukwu Madueke has been arrested with a locally made barrel gun in Ogboji Aguata local Government Area of the state.

He however denied using the gun for cultism, saying that he picked it from the compound of the person he went to do some work for as a mason.

Confirming the arrests, Bassey said investigations were still going on.
