Anambra guber: Group alerts INEC on plot to disqualify Uba
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been alerted on the plot by some politicians to defame Senator Andy Uba as part of plans to deprive him the privilege of contesting the forthcoming governorship election.
The Coalition of Civil Society Group (CCSG) while addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday said it is regrettable to observe that some political opponents have resorted to spreading of falsehood against Senator Andy Uba just to score a political point.
The president of the group, Comrade Etuk Bassey Williams, said that the mischief; blackmail, defamation of character and spread of unsubstantiated claims orchestrated by those who feel threatened by the senator’s outstanding political achievements.
He noted that, “ Uba, having worked in California after his studies in Concordia University Montreal, Canada, California State University and Buxton University respectively, has garnered much experience even in a more civilized society than ours.
“No wonder his intelligence, integrity and honesty speak volume and places him above his equals.
“Our major concern and worries are that if the current drift to negative political devices in an attempt to win elections is not checked, the polity will witness intolerance and it may snowball into violence.”
The group condemned in strong terms the unwarranted rally that held at INEC office which it alleged was a ploy to defame Senator Andy Uba.
