Anambra spends N0.9Bn for stable electricity in 33 Communities

It was a fanfare at Ihiala as the Gov Willie Obiano flagged off his reelection campaigns in Ihiala Council Area, at St Martins Catholic Church field, Odoata Ihiala.
The rally was well-attended by key stakeholders as well as support groups within the Council area.

The Governor had on arrival was welcomed with 21 gun salute and solidarity chants by the mammoth crowd that turned out to receive him.

In his address, Gov Obiano announced that by next week, 33 communities in the state, including those of Ihiala council area, Nnewi North/Nnewi South and Idemili North/Idemili South will begin to enjoy 16 hours daily power supply, facilitated by his administration.

He disclosed that the state government has put in the sum of N900 million to draw a 33 Kva line from the injection power substation at Obosi which it has also expanded.

He urged Ndi Ihiala to vote massively for him during next month’s guber election and endeavour to protect their votes, promising that during his second term, Anambra State will witness aggressive economic growth due to the numerous investments he attracted that would have materialized then.

Later at Ozubulu, the Ekwusigo Local Government headquarters, he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in the Council Area, and reminded the people that APGA represents the soul of Ndigbo and urged them to ensure that it emerges victorious in the election.

The party’s National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye informed the people that the party’s hierarchy has agreed that after the second term of Gov Obiano, they will support the successful return of power to the South senatorial zone.

The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election campaign committee, Chief Victor Umeh said the message of APGA remains to emancipate Ndigbo and unite them for effective participation in the nation’s polity.

In their separate remarks, a former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and the wife of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chief Mrs Bianca Ojukwu advised the people to be wary of political parties whose ideology are averse to the Igbo agenda, saying that Gov Obiano has proved himself an exemplary leader by the way he steered the affairs of the state in the face of recession.

Others who spoke at the event were the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bar Rita Maduagwu as well as members representing the Council areas in the state Assembly.

In their welcome remarks, the transition committee chairman of Ihiala Council Area, Mr Ifeanyi Odimegwu and his Ekwusigo counterpart, Mr Ikenna Ofordeme assured the governor that their people are solidly behind him and no antics of the opposition will change their stance.

Highlights of the ceremonies were performances by various musical groups as well as reception of many who decamped from APC into APGA.
