Catholic bishop pours encomiums on Onunkwo

•Says he is asset to Anambra State

Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Paulinus  Ezeokafor has  poured encomiums on a gubernatorial aspirant  on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the forthcoming Anambra election, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo.

He praised him for his “immense contribution to the growth of the Church and his passion for good governance”.

The remarks were made by the Catholic Bishop during the 2017 Awka Diocesan Laity Interactive Session held recently in Awka. The event also saw to the investiture of ‘Distinguished Ambassadorial Award ‘ to the governorship faithful.

The Bishop commended Onunkwo for his drive to better the society and give a new identity to the younger generation, adding that he was not surprised the Diocesan Laity decided to honour him with such an outstanding award.

According to him, Onunkwo’s rare qualities and commitment to service distinguishes him and this shows he is an asset to the state, just as the clergy urged him to continue to work hard and be a proud worker in God’s Vineyard.

Responding, Onunkwo who has bagged numerous awards from the church, academia, ambassadorial, leadership and humanitarian, thanked the Bishop for being physically present to present the award. He stressed the need for prayers among faithful to ensure that a God fearing candidate emerge from APC primaries and subsequently win the gubernatorial race.

He further explained that working in the Vineyard of the Lord was an essential requirement in the race to make heaven and urged the Laity to live a good life worthy of emulation.

He also advised the Laity to use their position in the Church to ensure good governance in Anambra State and asked for their support in his pursuit for credible and good governance in the state.

Earlier in his remark, the Diocesan Laity President, Mr. Emma Ezeokafor stated that Johnbosco Onunkwo was singled out for the award because of his immense contribution to the Diocese and his passion for good governance.

He promised the support of the Laity at all times and assured Onunkwo of their support in his effort to bring “credible and effective governance to Anambra State.”

Daily Sun recalls that Onunkwo, had while picking his nomination form at the APC national secretariat recently told journalists that accosted him for briefing that Anambra people are sophisticated enough to experience 21st century leadership, adding that he was the only person among all other aspirants  that has what it takes to lead sophisticated Anambarians.
