Don’t lose hope in Nigeria, Adeboye urges Christians

The General Overseer (Worldwide), Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in Jos on Sunday urged Christians not to lose hope in Nigeria but to believe that there is no problem impossible for God to solve.

The cleric also urged Nigerians to maintain a peaceful disposition towards one another, no matter the situation they found themselves, saying it was only through such acts that their prayers would be answered.

Adeboye spoke at the RCCG inter-denominational service held at Kassa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he rounded off the RCCG 2017 Northern Ministers and Workers Conference, with the theme, “The Almighty.”

At the event, the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, called on citizens to live in peace and support his administration to achieve its mandate.

Adeboye’s message was taken from the Book of Genesis 17:1-10.

He said, “Know that there is a God who is the Almighty; hide nothing from Him no matter the situation but put your trust in Him and the Almighty will be available to you. Though you have no one to help, the Almighty will help, remember that He knows all.”

Meanwhile, the Tarayar Ekklisiyoyin Kristia Nigeria, which consists of over 15 churches, among one of the blocs in the Christian Association of Nigeria, has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to ensure the release of the remaining Chibok girls and assist in the rebuilding of churches destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.

The organisation described the recent release of 82 Chibok girls as a good development, adding that the Federal Government should do more to release the remaining girls.

THE PUNCH reported that about 276 female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents on April 14, 2014, while preparing for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

About 106 of them have been rescued by the Federal Government in two batches.

While advising the government to ensure adequate medical care and rehabilitation of the freed Chibok girls, the group said they should be given good care and quality education that would make them have a sense of belonging in the society.

The President of TEKAN, Rev. Dr. Caleb Ahima, said this in Jos on Sunday, after dedicating the new gate of the organisation’s headquarters.

He said, “We call on the Federal Government to do all it could to secure the release of the remaining Chibok girls from the hands of their captors. I’m calling on the Federal Government to work while it is day for the night cometh when no man can work.

“The state governments in the North and the Federal Government should ensure that criminal elements in the North are cleared off the streets. They should as well ensure freedom of worship and association in all the states of the North to prevent a situation whereby some groups operating under whatever guise would go on burning places of worship.”

Ahima urged all Christians to pray for the government in its efforts to promote unity, peace and prosperity in the country.
