Driver crushes FRSC official in Onitsha
An official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Ojukwu Noble has been crushed to death by a commercial bus driver in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred yesterday at the foot of the Niger Bridge in the commercial city, involving a Toyota Hiace with registration No. ATN 466 ZK.
The driver, identified by the police as Obiekezie Okonkwo, was said to have lost control of his vehicle and allegedly knocked down the 32-year old FRSC official on duty.
The deceased was confirmed dead at the nearby Toronto Hospital, as efforts by the medical experts to revive him proved abortive.
Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer at Fegge, Rabiu Garba, said the driver would soon be charged to court for manslaughter.
“The driver is already being detained at the Fegge Divisional Headquarters, while his vehicle has been taken to the premises of Onitsha Unit Command of the FRSC,” Garba said.
