FIFA overrules CAF, confirms Sept 1 for Cameroon tie
World football governing body FIFA have approved September 1 as date for the Super Eagles to host the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.

FIFA had to step into a logjam concerning the date against Cameroon.

This was after the Confederation of African Football had scheduled the first leg in Nigeria for August 31 by 7pm in Uyo.

The NFF insisted the game be played on September 1 with kick-off time being 5pm at the same venue.

And FIFA have now intervened by directing that the game be played as demanded by the home team, in this case Nigeria.

“The NFF have received an official correspondence from FIFA ordering that the game be played on September 1 from 5pm in Uyo,” a source told SCORENigeria

“That therefore puts to rest the controversy surrounding this match day.”

The return leg will therefore be on September 5 in Yaounde.
