Monkeypox
Kano State Commissioner for health, Dr. Kabiru Getso, has confirmed a suspected case of monkey pox in Kano.
Addressing journalists at the Ministry, yesterday, the Commissioner said the ministry was informed about the suspect at Bebeji General Hospital, in Bebeji local government area, about 40 kilometres away from Kano city.
Kabiru, who insisted that the case suspect’s symptoms appear more of chickenpox, which are similar to that of monkey pox, said the suspect’s case has not been ascertained.
Although the Commissioner said the suspect has not travelled, he hinted that government has already traced over 60 persons, who had established contact with the suspect.
The Commissioner revealed that the state government has already deployed a team of emergency response investigation to the local government area, while the suspect has been admitted at the isolation centre to curtail further spread.
He explained that the suspect’s sample has already been taken for investigation at Darka, Senegal.
