In a bid to complement Katsina State Government’s efforts at bringing succor to the less-privileged, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Daughters of Katsina Foundation, has put smiles on the faces of 200 women to kick start its operations in the state.
The foundation initiated by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aminu Bello Masari on Donor Agencies and Inter-Governmental Relations, Fatima Usman Katsina, flagged off its philanthropic mission by distributing vegetable oil, medium sized bag of rice and several kilogrammes of meat to each of the 200 less privileged women.
Speaking during the inauguration of the foundation at Maryam Babangida Park in Katsina at the weekend, Fatima said the gesture is a fulfillment of her dream to give back to the society and support President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Masari’s determination to bridge the gap in empowerment of women and youths to be self reliant.
She further noted that the foundation would soon embark on the training and empowerment of 200 of no fewer than 200 beneficiaries to contribute more meaningfully to their families and the society.
Fatima, who observed that the present administration had made a difference in piloting the affairs of the state and the country despite the prevailing economic recession, urged the populace to continue to pray for the success of the state and federal government in the task of improving the well-being of all.
In his remarks, the Secretary to Government of the State (SGS), Mustapha Inuwa, appreciated selflessness and vision of the foundation, particularly on the eve of Eid-el Fitr when it is mandatory for less privileged to be assisted by well meaning individuals and groups.
Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’Adua, the SGS charged the well-to-do individuals and organisations in the state to rise up to the challenge of complementing the people-oriented programmes of the state and federal government.
Inuwa assured that Masari administration would not relent on its efforts at supporting skilled persons with soft loans and materials to start their businesses or expand their existing ventures.
Inaugurating the foundation, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, represented by Sa’in Katsina, Ahmadu Na-Funtua, lauded its tremendous contribution and determination to ensure a better society.
The monarch also pledged the fatherly advice and support of Katsina Emirate Council to any individual or group committed to uplift the standard of living of the teeming populace.
