MEET THE MAN, DR PATRICK IFEANYI UBAH.

William Shakespeare, the prodigy of classical literature and the foremost literary icon in British history, in one of his works stated: “Some are born great; some achieve greatness; some have greatness thrust upon them”. 

In this connection, there is no gainsaying the fact that the man, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah belongs to the latter group. More so, to say that Ifeanyi Ubah conjures the aura and admiration of most people in our society, including the young and the old, even beyond his entrepreneurial and social circle is to restate the obvious. 

Yet, to many of his admirers, Ifeanyi Ubah’s personality may appear to be an enigma. Perhaps, not many people seem to understand the concept and dimensions of his entrepreneurial drive, including those who may claim to know him.
HIS BACK GROUND
Born September 3, 1971 into the family of Mr. & Mrs. Alphosus Ubah of Umuanuka in Otolo- Nnewi, Anambra State. Ifeanyi was not born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth, hence he embraced hard work, doggedness, perseverance and trust in God at a very tender age. It is worthy to note herein that Ifeanyi’s immediate environment as a teenager had ignited the fire of success and subsequent stardom. Considering the meager salary of his parents, who were both teachers and material deprivation which the family has endured.

Therefore, Ifeanyi was poised to better the lot of his family. This situation however necessitated the zeal to venture into trade. In the light of this, upon completion of his secondary school at Okongwu Memorial Grammar School (OMGS), Nnewi, Ifeanyi’s intention to venture into business was made known to his parents. Although his father, Mr. Alphosus Ubah disagreed and expressed frustration over his son’s decision, yet Ifeanyi was optimistic and courageous in his bid to contribute his own quota in fending for the family. Candidly, a careful look at Ifeanyi Ubah’s success story reveals a true picture of a man of vigor, sagacity, and great determination. 

Ifeanyi became an apprentice at the age of sixteen, and rose to the head of a successful regional business at the age of eighteen. Suffice it to say that, Dr. Ubah started as a vehicle spare parts dealer and later emerged as a significant player in tyre exportation from Nigeria to Ghana. He was one of the major suppliers of vehicle tyres in Ghana, a situation that made him to become a millionaire at the age of nineteen. Thereafter, Ifeanyi Ubah expanded his business to various African and European countries , which includes: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Congo Brazzaville, Congo (DRC), England, Belgium etc. The Liberian war affected his business, thus he returned to Nigeria. Upon his arrival in Lagos, Ifeanyi continued his business activities with the international companies such as: AE, Payen, Kolben Company of South Africa and AngloAmerican Industrial Corperation. Other companies include: Banque Belgolaise (Brussels) and AE Automotive parts of (Leeds UK).
Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is one individual who affectionately appeals to people across political, ethnic, religious and generational boundaries. He established Capital Oil SPRL in Congo (DRC) through which he imported oil and gas from Ibeto Petrochemical Nigeria and supplied to the biggest transporters and industrial establishments as well as governmental agencies like the National Railway Corperation etc.
HIS OIL EXPLOITS ( CAPITAL OIL AND GAS )
Capital oil was established in 2001,  a venture he was encouraged to exhibit ability through his uncle and brother Chief Cletus Ibeto, Ifeanyi Ubah’s mentor, who supported his business and further tutored him on the oil and gas climate in Nigeria. Dr. Ubah invested his resources from his successful business enterprises to expand his operations in Nigeria, thereby creating thousands of job opportunities for the unemployed youths.

Between 2003 and 2004, Capital Oil extended her business into haulage, transportation and petroleum product retail. Today, the company has built three of the largest oil and gas depots in Nigeria, and acquired the forth simultaneously. It is equally important to note here that the group accounts for about 30% of daily petroleum products distribution in Nigeria. It also employs a workforce of over 3,000 and has caused the creation of additional 1,000 related jobs. Capital Oil owns the largest fleet of marine vessels, barges, tug boats, as well as oil dispatching trucks in Nigeria.
HIS FOOTBALL CLUB
In 2014 to be precise Ifeanyi Ubah Foot ball Club came into existence , one of which he valued more as a born footballer. Dr ifeanyi Ubah love football so much that he has invested more than any club owners in Africa. The recent MOU with West Ham Foot ball Club England becoming the London club’s first commercial partners in Africa. The deal made possible through Capital Oil and Gas.  FCIU today has changed the face of football not only in Anambra State both in Nigeria and Africa.
AFFILIATION WITH OTHER OIL AND GAS COMPANIES
Contemporarily, Ubah’s major business is oil and gas trading, port and harbor investment in African continent. He also invested in property and real estate development, telecommunication, commodity importation, financial institution and hospitals. At the moment, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah sits on the board of several companies including: Knoil & Hachfer Engineering Co. Ltd., Chevron Oronite & Chemical Co.Ltd, Hero Communication Ltd, First Nigerian Independent Oil Ltd, Commodity Giants Nigerian ltd, Capita Group (Congo DR) Oil Force Nigeria Limited AND American hospital Ltd; among others. Ubah’s invaluable contribution and ideas led to the construction of strategic regional oil depots within the geopolitical zones of Nigeria: Suleja in Niger State, Funtua in Katsina State, Enugu in Enugu State, Warri and Koko in Delta State. This development has gone a long way in creating job opportunities for Nigerian youths.
CHARACTERIZED PHILANTHROPIST
A man of the people, quintessential personality, a successful entrepreneur, an oil mogul, liberal democrat and philanthropist per excellence. He was profiled by the Oxford Book Magazine as one of the “Forty under Forty 2009”. A list of the top forty Nigerian business leaders under the age of forty.

In addition, as a result of his desire to give back to the society, he established the Ifeanyi Uba’s Foundation which gives scholarship to students into higher institutions. He also provided pipe-borne water to the rural communities, rural electrification and road reconstructions. As if that was not enough, he gives free petrol to motorists and ‘Okada’ riders every severally in all his fuel stations.

Dr Ifeanyi Ubah built an ICT Center for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He built and donated students’ hostel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. He also built a 160 capacity ICT centre,fully equipped with the state of the art tech for the Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna.

Today in Nnewi Dr Ifeanyi Ubah is building a game village, the first of its kind in west Africa. Dr Ifeanyi Ubah is single handedly building a 3000 capacity catholic cathedral for Nnewi Diocese. In the same vein,  donated the sum of 60 million naira for the acquisition of the Bishop’s court for the Anglican Diocese of Awka… Just to mention but few. 

Due to his numerous contributions to humanity and the entrepreneurial ingenuity, the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State, conferred him with honorary Doctorate of Management Technology (DMT).
HONORS
The Montclair State University, New Jersey, USA also honored him with Doctorate of Philosophy in Critical and Creative Thinking. Moreso, Ifeanyi is at the verge of completing the prestigious owner/ president Management programme at Havard University, Boston, USA.

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is happily married to Mrs. Uchenna Ubah, a graduate of Business Administration Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria -Nigeria. This union is blessed with five children. God bless Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
