Police arrest injured robbers after failed attempt to break ATM

Policemen on Wednesday arrested two injured armed robbers on Aba Road at Towers Hotel, Kano State, after a failed attempt to break an Automated Teller Machine.
Confirming the robbery incident to our correspondent, the Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, said that at about 11.30 am, the Command received a distress call from a resident within the neighborhood that armed robbers were attempting to rip open an ATM.
According to Majiya, as soon as the Command received the call, a crack team of armed detectives was drafted to the scene of the robbery.
Majiya said that on arrival at the scene, an exchange of gun battle ensued between the robbers and the detectives, at the end of which two of the robbers were arrested with gunshot wounds.
One AK 47 assault rifle was recovered from the fleeing robbers, including their operational vehicle.
The arrested armed robbers have been taken to the Police Command for further investigation, so as to arrest some of their accomplices, Majiya said.
