Jealous Air Force Officer, Kalu Sentenced To Death For Killing Girlfriend
An Air Force officer, Kalu Bernard has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Nigerian Force for the murder of his lover, Solape Oladipupo, aka Shomzy Shomzy, on March 12, 2017.
Report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the judgement started at about 9:00 am on and lasted till 4:00 pm for a break. The panellists reconvened at 7:30 pm to continue with the 70-page court findings.
The 21-year old was charged with numerous crimes including murder, house breaking, impersonation, attempted murder etc. which was reportedly listed out by the judge advocate, Flight Lieutenant MA Umoh during the trial.
Despite a plea by Kalu’s defence counsel, Abimiku Ewuga, for the court to temper justice with mercy and spare him on the ground that he is the breadwinner of his family, the court president, Group Captain Elisha Bindul, declared him guilty in six out of the eight counts in his final judgement. He, therefore, sentenced him to death by hanging, subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority.

However, Ewuga who spoke to journalists shortly after the judgement said he would find any way possible to appeal the ruling.
Recall that Officer Kalu Bernard had on March 12, 2017, broken into Oladipupo’s home and shot her in the neck at close range on the suspicion that she was cheating on him with another man. He was taken into custody of the Air Police after an investigation confirmed his crimes.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that Kalu left a note with the assumption that he was going to kill himself after he kills Solape. The accused obviously prepared to join his lover to the under world when he left the note saying:
“It’s a privilege for me writing this note because it would be read by most of men.”
“It’s a love story of a guy falling in love with a wrong witch who pretended to be good in my eyes and in the eyes of my loving mother. Am a simple guy who never partakes in name various (nefarious) activities.
Most individuals say I have a future here it is. Am a guy who pull two rounds in a witch and one round to my f*cking body.”
“For it is said he who kill by the sword shall die by it.”
“Most idiot would insult me, yes! If I were to be in their shoes I would do the same likewise if they were to be in my shoe, they would even pull more than three rounds on the witch.”
“Call me a crazy lover who died of heartbreak.”
For some reason, Kalu Bernard didn’t pull the trigger on himself after shooting his girlfriend dead.
Parent of Late Solape Oladipupo revealed their daughter’s death had been prophesied long before she was murdered. Mrs Oladipupo told Sunday Sun that the family received a prophecy warning the deceased against engaging in any relationship with anybody at her base in Makurdi, as such could spell doom for her.
The deceased Air Force officer is also allegedly a mother of one, a girl whom she gave birth to at the age of 16.
