Ugwuanyi tasks students on use of new science lab

    Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has tasked the staff and students of Comprehensive Secondary School, Udi-Abia community in Udi Local Government Area of the state to make optimal use of the well-equipped modern science laboratory complex donated by some oil companies operating in the country to enhance the teaching and learning of science subjects.           Ugwuanyi gave the task just as the Managing Director of StarDeepWater Petroleum Limited, Mr Richard Kennedy said that how to improve on the poor students’ performance in sciences during the 2016 West African Examination Council (WAEC) was the main reason for his company’s donation of 33 science laboratories to schools in different states of Nigeria including the FCT, Abuja.The governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, expressed delight that Enugu state has become one of the beneficiaries of the science laboratory complex sited in different parts of the.The managing director Star DeepWater Petroleum, Mr Kennedy expressed dismay that statistics from the 2016 WAEC results showed that only 52.9 per cent of the total number of candidates obtained five credits and above including Mathematics.
