Title: We Let Go

Writer: Alexander Obimma(Alex Jaja)

He watched the leaves on the tree

Fall on the running stream
And like the other things,
Got carried far into a far ocean.
Twas how his bloods fell
On the running stream of epidemics,
And carried faraway into the ocean of nothingness.

Just as this wave of the disaster
Caress his mind and kiss his thought,
He gave the sigh
As he resign to fate and said:
“We’re no immortals,
We’re mere survivors;
Survivors of numerous life battles.
Shall feel every metal
The fire of the smithery”.

Things we couldn’t hold,
We let go.
Through and through so,
We can them again hold.

They lost our grip
As they caught the grippe
When nature raised the sword of pestilence
And whittled down many.
In thousands, millions –
Lives quenched, bodies ruined.
As Sheol with gladsome heart
Welcomed his fresh mislucked denizens,
We wriggled in great grief for loss
As we let go,
Because we couldn’t them hold.

When the whirlwind of destruction
Sweeps and swept our fortune,
We rest our heads on the pillow
Of our faiths.
And our grieved souls embrace
Soothing lyrics of hymns and lines of poems.
So,our heavy hearts find eternal peace.
And things we couldn’t hold,

We let go.
