A former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that the power of incumbency will not save Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State from defeat in the November gubernatorial election in the state.Kalu, who is the Vice Chairman of the APC South East Zonal Committee for the Anambra 2017 governorship election, stated this at the weekend, in Abuja, during a meeting with the gubernatorial aspirants of the party.

“We’ll use everything we have to take the state from Obiano because this is a task that must be done. We are not leaving any stone unturned. Obiano is an incumbent in Anambra State; but mark you that we are incumbent nation-wide,” he said.

“We are going to use our own incumbency and match his incumbency; there will be total fairness and APC will win,” he added.

The chairman of the committee, Dr. Jim Nwobodo, assured the aspirants that nobody would be “imposed on them as Governor of Anambra State by the APC.”

Nwobodo reminded them of the need to support the eventual candidate of the party, saying, “We are seriously working towards winning the election in Anambra State.”

“I believe that the APC wants to get that state, not by crook or by force. We would get it legally, nicely, and in a civilised way. We would have election in a civilised way and God-willing, we would do our best to get Anambra for APC,” he added.

The APC governorship aspirants who attended the meeting included Senator Andy Uba, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Dr. Obinna Uzor, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, Mr. Paul Chukwuma, Chief Barth Nwibe, Chief George Moghalu, Tony Nwoye, Chief Donatus Okonkwo and Chief Ralph Okeke.
