Anambra gov’ship: PDP recalls disqualified aspirant

The PDP has recalled Mr Ufodike Afolisa, one of its seven governorship aspirants who was disqualified from the race.

The 44-year-old Afolisa, who seems to be the youngest among the contestants, was earlier disqualified on grounds of dual citizenship, but was cleared recently to contest the party’s primaries on the grounds that his status was neither a crime nor a valid ground for political disqualification in Nigeria.

Speaking with pressmen in Abuja, Afolisa said he was back in the race and was ready to bring his experience in entrepreneurship, education and industry to take Anambra to the next level.

He said if Nigerians were looking for those who would serve, then dual citizenship shouldn’t count. He assured that his candidacy would bring the youth factor into the race based on the #NotTooYoungToRun advocacy.

He said he presently sits on the board of the Nigeria-Canada Chamber of Commerce, where he was a founding member, adding that he had used the position and brokered a trade relation between Nigeria and Canada between 2012 and 2013.

“This gives me the ability to stand before foreign investors, talk in the language they understand and bring Anambra to the investment destination it desires,” he assured.

Report a problem.
