Chelsea boss Conte explains Bayern Munich defeat
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he is pleased with the spirit shown by his team as they attempted to recover from a tough start in Tuesday’s friendly defeat to Bayern Munich in Singapore.Conte’s men conceded two goals inside the opening 12 minutes, and then a third shortly before the half-hour mark as Bayern threatened to run away with the contest.

However, a powerful drive by Marcos Alonso on the stroke of half-time reduced the deficit, and Michy Batshuayi’s impressive pre-season goalscoring streak continued as he flicked home from close range late on in a 3-2 defeat. The Italian coach in a post-match conference said: “We conceded three goals in half-hour and it’s not simple, it was a difficult situation but the reaction was very good.”We didn’t give up and the commitment was good. We tried to fight. Our start wasn’t good but the players showed me a great will to try to change the result.

We are only in pre-season and we are working very hard.”Bayern are a top club, one of the best in the world. Regularly they win the league in Germany and in the Champions League they normally reach the final or semi-final, but we must take the positives and continue to work.”
