Cleric urges Buhari to caution Okorocha

Archbishop, Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call the Imo State governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha to order.

Speaking in Enugu yesterday, the cleric also asked the All Progressives Congress (APC), to redirect Okorocha’s leadership styles.

The Archbishop said it was saddening that while several Imo workers and pensioners were groaning over unpaid salaries and pension, Okorocha was busy wasting money to erect statues.

According to him, “I want to say that the condition of civil servants and pensioners in Imo is very pathetic. And to make matters worse, Okorocha instead of doing the needful, is busy erecting statues and partying with taxpayers’ money.

“I’m urging President Buhari and his party, the APC to call him to order.”

The cleric lampooned the governor for also making caricature of governance by establishing Ministry of Happiness “President Buhari should not keep silent over this; he should tell Okorocha to stop molding statues and use that money to pay workers and pensioners,” he said.

 

While calling on other governors to prioritize salaries and pensioners in their utilisation of the Paris Club Fund refund, Archbishop Chukwuma urged politicians to show maturity as the 2019 general election is approaching.

Meanwhile, the governor has approved and directed immediate payment of November and December salaries of workers.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Prof. Nnamdi Obiareri, the governor gave the directives to enable civil servants join other Christians celebrate Christmas and New Year.

The statement advises any worker encountering problems in accessing his or her salary to approach the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, for assistance or intervention.

The governor and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. George Eche, have urged law-abiding people to ignore the call for mass action against the government by a coalition of Civil Society Organizations Imo Progressive Action Democracy (IPAD).
