Nigeria on Friday night lost their second Group B game of the six-a-side Star Sixes Football tournament for national team legends in London.
The team captained by Austin Jay Jay Okocha, who pipped China 3-2 with Daniel Amokachi and Aiyegbeni scoring in their first game on Thursday, were defeated 2-1 by Italy at the O2 Arena.Italy’s Alessandro Del Piero scored first in the game while Stefano Fiore scored the second for the Azzurri.Yakubu Aiyegbeni scored Nigeria’s goal and his third of the tournament with seven minutes left on the clock.Incidentally, Nigeria also lost 2-1 to Italy at the 1994 World Cup in the United States of America when Okocha and Daniel Amokachi were in the Super Eagles team.The Nigerians will face Brazil in their last Group game on Saturday.
